CREATIVE WORK
"Knight’s Trek"
This series of works draws inspiration from the traditional Chinese culture of "xia lü" (chivalric journey), integrating the natural imagery of the four seasons with the spiritual core of a knight-errant’s travels, aiming to explore the symbiotic relationship between "chivalry" and "nature" in Eastern aesthetics. The creation combines ink wash and oil painting techniques, using light and shadow to convey the emotional nuances of the journey across different times and spaces: a leisurely rest under spring blossoms reveals the knight’s relaxed state when laying aside their sharp edge; a figure advancing along a secluded valley path implies the solitude and resolve of wandering the martial world; a quiet contemplation by a lantern in a frosted forest highlights the knight’s loneliness and philosophical reflection; and a lone ride across icy cliffs and cold waters reinforces the chivalric spirit of braving hardships. By creatively using light and shadow as the core carrier of emotional narrative, and through the collision of freehand brushwork and realistic lighting, the works reconstruct the knight-errant imagery in a contemporary context, offering new possibilities for the visual expression of traditional martial arts aesthetics.
