CREATIVE WORK
"My So-called Blossom Out"
Inspired by methods of mental restoration and self-healing from burnout syndrome and then expressing
the creative work through sarcasm. The term "My So-called" is used to indicate that a name, description,
or term applied to someone, or something is inaccurate, inappropriate, or doubtful. It implies skepticism
or irony; it gives the impression that the speaker is displeased or disagrees with the situation. Blossom
Out refers to the blossoming of flowers, but for a person or concept, it signifies full physical and
intellectual development, which the creator brough to do a wordplay with the terms "bore-out," "burn-
out," and "brown-out," interpreting and conveying these ideas through fashion elements as follows:
1.
The oversized silhouette was used to exaggerate the structure of workwear, to express the heavy
workload and constant burden.
2. Techniques: fabric abrading was used to demonstrate the ruggedness
and emotional resilience of experiencing burnout.
3. Decorative details were created by sewing fabric
tuberoses into the seams and cuts of the creation, symbolizing the healing power of plants and flowers
that one always carries.
4. Color: The creator chose the natural color of denim fabric and added a
glimpse of the off-white from the tuberose as an accent color to signify resilience, toughness, and
endurance, all while emitting an alluring fragrance. And finally,
5. Materials: denim was used to convey
durability against various conditions, to create a look of maximal fashion apparel. To depict an
individual experiencing burnout attempting to heal oneself through passions and hobbies, but
ultimately, the thought of full physical and intellectual development turns out to be surrounded by
blossoming flowers, as if burdened with an even heavier responsibility.
