Elegies to Gaia is a three-minute single-channel video that explores how nonhuman beings express suffering in ways that lie beyond human language. Rooted in the environmental crisis of arsenic contamination in the Kok River—which flows from Chiang Rai toward the Mekong River—the work reflects on the silent, often imperceptible forms of pain experienced by water bodies, ecosystems, and the life forms entangled within them.

Drawing from field research along the river and collaborative artistic experimentation, the project asks: If a river could articulate its distress, how would it narrate its toxic wounds? Through layered video imagery, corporeal movement, and subtle sonic textures, The Silent Stream reveals quiet gestures of disturbance—surface trembling, vapor, tension—to make perceptible what is usually ignored or unheard.

Created in collaboration with multimedia artist Chakkrit Chimnok and performer Armue Peamue, the work merges visual abstraction with embodied performance to register environmental trauma as both somatic and atmospheric. Rather than providing documentary realism, the video invites viewers to sense the continuous, subdued struggle of a river system enduring contamination. The Silent Stream stands as a poetic testimony of a landscape attempting to breathe through toxicity.
