CREATIVE WORK.
"Pieces of Me"
The creator is an impatient person, and becomes sensitive and emotional very easily. The phrase "You want a piece of me?" always crops up in the mind. “Pieces of Me” took place while working from home during The COVID-19 pandemic, which was very stressful and nerve-racking. Organizing and cleaning the house was a way of dealing with the environment to relieve one's mind from stress. Moreover, the process of creating creative work has been another way to calm the creator down. Organizing the creator’s house, especially dressing rooms, materials and supplies room revealed that there were lots of various leftover or some clothing that were still in good condition. After sorting and donating, there were still some pieces left such as jeans, t- shirts, tank tops, shirts, as well as fabric scraps.
Therefore, by taking leftover pieces and combining them all to create “Pieces of Me”, was a combination of the question “You want a piece of me” and the creator's various pieces. The creative work is a result of deconstruction of clothing and upcycling of leftover items. Combining with appliqué technique in embroidery, using natural pattern that comes from the phoenix bird. Expressing feelings of overcoming adversity, being stronger and more powerful than before. Upcycling clothing is a way of creator to communicate environmental friendliness. For this creative work, it is like the rebirth of leftover clothes and combining the identity of the creator according to the concept of Restoration to life,
